Andrés Gómez Mares is the first-year Mexican student of the HSE international Master’s programme ‘Prototyping future cities’. He has a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico and came to Moscow to get knowledge in smart city development and train his skills in digital fabrication. On March 18 in Shukhov Lab Natalia Fishman, advisor to the president of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Vicente Guallart, academic supervisor of the master program ‘Prototyping future cities’, discussed the future of urban public spaces in cities and shared an experience of creating livable and valuable public spaces in cities in Russia and worldwide.

Master’s programme in Prototyping Future Cities offered by the HSE Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism was launched in 2017 and has since become quite popular among international students. Students from all over the world come to Moscow to learn how to use technologies to deal with future challenges of urban development. Two of the first-year students have talked to HSE News Service about studying on the programme and the projects they have been working on.
